The Pioneer Road of Independence and Urip Sumoharjo is a Primary
Arterial road where at peak hours there is a short but very dense traffic
jam. This is due to the high volume of traffic flow when entering peak
hours on the segment. The study was conducted to analyze the volume of
traffic flow using the Guidelines of the Indonesian Road Capacity Manual
(MKJI 1997) and compare with the results based on location reviews using
private vehicles. The primary data needed in this study is the volume of
traffic flow, the magnitude of side barriers, geometric road data, and
secondary data in the form of population as supporters. This study was
conducted with a segment length of 3.1 km. The performance of the
existing condition road along 3.1 km for the lowest degree of saturation is
0.15 can be achieved at the peak hour of daylight, while judging from the
review using a private motorcycle vehicle the highest average speed
reaches 77.5 Km / h on the Daytime Trip Home, while the highest average
average speed personal car reaches 62 Km / h on the Daytime Trip. The
speed can be obtained during the day and is able to exceed the free
current speed (FV) which is 57.91 Km / h based on the results of
calculations with the MKJI method 1997. As for the degree of saturation in
the peak hour of the morning is 0.27 and the afternoon 0.28. This is
because the value of Traffic Flow Volume (Q) at the hour is very high and
becomes the biggest factor that affects the smooth movement of traffic
flow. In the morning the average Q value of 2,603.04 smp / hour and in the
afternoon the average Q value of 2,673.96 smp / hour while during the day
the average Q value is only 1,409.5 smp / hour. Where Morning and
Evening are the times when the city residents travel or go home from work
simultaneously which causes an increase in the volume of traffic flow at
that hour. Utilizing toll roads and alternatives at peak hours can cut travel
