Soil is a collection of natural mineral granules (Ageregat) that can be
mechanically separated if the ageregate is stirred in water or a collection of
minerals, organic matter, and loose deposits, located on the bedrock. Rocks
are rocks whose minerals are bound together by a permanent and strong
cohesive force, and cannot be separated in a simple mechanical way. Land is
the basis of a structure or construction, both building construction and road
construction. Therefore, there needs to be soil improvement in order to
increase the carrying capacity of the soil, one of which is by chemically
repairing the soil.
This study was emphasized to analyze soil characteristics using
stabilization methods using Palm Shell Ash in accordance with the variation
of each stabilization material against cbr value parameters. In addition to
determining the physical properties of unstable soils, this study is also
focused on determining the level of stabilization of materials that provide
optimal carrying capacity in the soil. The percentage of stabilization materials
used in this study was Palm Shell Ash: 0%, 3%, 7%, 11% 15%.The value of
California Bearing Ratio (CBR) without soaking for the original soil condition is
0.1" by 4.50%, 0.2" by 4.80% while cbr value increase for addition of 3%
ACKS, 7% ACKS, 11% ACKS, 15% ACKS increased consecutively by 9.10%,
14.15%, 15.50%, and 16.05%. That's because the size of the grain in palm oil
shell ash is so small that it can close the pores on the soil. Certainly meet the
specification of the basic ground strength of the highway required (CBR value
requirement > 6%). |
