dc.description.abstract The study investigated students' difficulties at translating English short stories. This research was conducted at SMAN 2 Takalar. The writer uses a mixed-method. The population in this study were students of class X-1 SMAN 2 Takalar. Total population of 680 students. The sample was selected using the purposive sampling technique, the number of samples was 30 students. Data obtained through short story translation tests, questionnaires, and interviews as instruments, research. From the results of this study found challenges of students in translating English short stories conducted by students of class X-1, English short stories that are translated. The findings showed that students had a lot of difficulty in translation, in addition there were translation errors because the wrong word choice caused the message in the short story to fail to be delivered. en_US
