dc.description.abstract So/ rs useful as a building material in civil engineeing work, one of which is roed conslruclion The stebilizetion of the pevement construction will be directly affected by the ability of the subgrade to accept and transmit the wo*ing load. However, not all subgrade layers are able to withstand the load above it. Only soil that has a good classification is able to function as a carrying capacity. /':^^^t lh' ^l^t, ^^;l^ t-^,1^ hi^t ^r^^l;^i^. ^^^^'1;^^ ah^ t,^l'ta^ \rvttvtetr, v,q, ov,,o t'Qt.. t,tv,t P,al,.'v,.t P' vye' tt..o, will change when the water content changes. These propefties can cause damage to pavement construction such as cracked roads, raised pavement layers, bumpy roads and so on. Therefore, the poor clay properties must be conected before carrying out any construction. This study was conducted to determine how strcng the effect of adding cocoa husk asfi and ice husk ash to clay soils on the compressive and shear strength values. The tesf was canied out by mixing clay with cocoa husk ash and ice husk ash with a composition of clay, clay + 5% t'icc husk ash + 09/o cocoa husk ash, clay sai! + 5o/o t'ice husk ash + 5o,L husk ash cacao, clay + 10%o ice husk ash + 10/o cocoa husk ash, clay + 15% ice husk ash + 15yo cocoa husk ash. ln testing the compressive strength of clay added with ice husk ash and cocoa husk ash, the average compressive strength (qu) of stress = 0.468 (kg/cm2) but at the addition of 5%, 10% and 15%, it increased respectively. while for testing the shear strength of clay, rice husk ash and cocaa husk ash were added at the addition of 5o/o, 10%, and 15% inueased. en_US
