dc.description.abstract This study aimed to determine the types of sign, and the symbolic meaning of Bali dance Rejang Renteng inLuwu Timur District. The method used in this study uses a qualitative descriptive method, the theory used by the writer is the semiotic theory proposed by Charles Peirce about 10 Types of Sign and Symbolic Meaning. Data collection techniques used in this study include : observation, interviews, documentation and supporting documents. From the results of the analysis, it was found, based on the 9 clothes on the Rejang renteng dance, 3 parts of movements in the rejang renteng dance, both of clothes and movements had 5 types of signs including : Iconic Sinsign, Rhematic Indexical Sinsign, IconicLegisign, Dicent Indexical Legisign, and Rhematic Symbol. The clothes had a sign as beauty, cleanliness, holiness, self-control and as protection from bad things. The movement had a sign as harmony, natural balance, happiness, gratitude, honor and human harmony. Symbolic meaning of the clothes was a symbol of purity, cleanliness, beauty and protection from bad things. Meanwhile the movements has symbolic meaning as an expression of gratitude for the grace that given to human. en_US
