Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of giving reward in
students’ achievement on learning English. The result in this research was
expected to be useful for students to improved students’ vocabulary mastery,
and it can help the teachers to be more creative.
This study used a pre-experimental method. Population of this research
was the second grade students of SMPN 2 Bangkelekila’ in academic year
2016/2017 and sample was students of VIII-B class which consisted of 30
students. The data collected by using test (pre-test and post-test).
The result of the research and discussion that obtained by the writer in
SMPN 2 Bangkelekila’ that there was an improving of students’ achievement
by giving reward. It can be seen from the data that has been collected where
the total mean score in pre-test (49.7) and post-test (78.5). The results of ttest calculation was (27.72) is accepted as the results of t-test is greater than
t-Table (27.72>2.045). Thus, concluded that the use reward was one of the
effective methods in increasing students’ achievement on learning English of
VIII-B class of SMPN 2 Bangkelekila’.
