Abstract:
The objectives of this research were to examine the effect of The
Jakarta Post online on students’ news item text writing.
Related to the object of the research, the writer used quasiexperimental method. The research was conducted at SMAN 1 Mamuju in
the academic year 2017/2018. The population in this research was the
tenth grade of SMAN 1 Mamuju. The total numbers of population were 30
students. The sample was X MIPA 3 class which consists of 30 students.
The result indicated that the mean score in pre-test was 50,73 and
the post-test was 73.4. It shows that used The Jakarta Post Online as a
medium has effect on students’ writing news item text at SMAN 1 Mamuju.
