Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to determine the application of the Englis
newspaper in students’ reading comprehension. The result in this researchis
expected to be useful for students to improve students’ reading comprehension, andcan help the teachers to be more creative. This study used a pre-experimental method. Population of this researchisthefourth semester of English Education in academic year 2016/2017 and sampleis17. The data was collected by using a reading comprehension test (pre-test andposttest). The result of this research shows that the value of T-test is higher thanT-table(7.681>2.120). It concluded that the use of English newspaper texts to increasethestudents’reading comprehension.
