Abstract:
The purpose of the research is to know the students improvement
in writing skill at SMPN 1Tabulahan by using four-square writing method
as guider in writing process
In this research, the writer used pre-experimental method where
data collected by given pre-test and post-test, with compared students’
score before and after giving test by using four-square writing. The total
population was 80 students from two classes and the writer chose class
VIII A class as the sample of this research which consist of 40 students.
The result of this research showed the four-square writing method
as guided in writing process that at SMPN 1 Tabulahan was effective.
It caused there was the significance different in the result of pre-test and
post-test, where the mean score of pre-test was 2.3 and the mean score
of post-test was 4.0. The T-test of students writing skill was (18.1) higher
from T-table (2.045). Therefore it can be concluded that the using of four
square writing method can increase students’ writing skill of class VIII-A
SMPN 1 Tabulahan district Mamasa West Sulawesi
