This research aims to find out students‟ ability in Distinguishing
Gerund and Present Participle of the sixth semester Students of English
Education Department of Bosowa University Makassar. Basically, this
research is descriptive research.
This research is conducted at Bosowa University Makassar at the sixth
semester students of English education department (one class). It consist
of 10 students as the sample. Technique of collecting data is done by
giving test that consist of 30 items. Collected data was analyzed by
classifying it into score criterion, afterward determining mean score and
rate percentage.
The result of data analysis showed that students‟ ability in
distinguishing gerund and present participle reach 58,30% percentage. It
indicated that there were 1 student who obtain good score criterion, 7
students obtained fair score criterion and 2 students obtained poor score
criterion. The writer concluded that students‟ ability in distinguishing
gerund and present participle at sixth semester students could be
categorized as well enough satisfactory. It can be seen from the
percentage that reach the fair criterion and the most number of students
who obtained fair criterion. The result of students is expected that good
criterion that was about 66-79 |
