dc.description.abstract Socio-spatial transformation of urban architecture is a new concept in the discipline of architecture and urban planning. These socio-spatial changes have an impact on the architectural elements of the city. When development occurs in coastal areas, local fishing communities bear a huge burden from this condition. This study aims to explore the definition and understand the characteristics of socio-spatial transformation of urban architectural elements, from the perspective of local communities in urban coastal areas. The grounded theory research method is used to develop a theoretical explanation of the definition and characteristics of the changes that occur. The data was obtained inductively from local communities, and it was collected through focus group discussions and in depth interviews. The results define the socio-spatial transformation of urban architectural elements, resulting in changes in land use and an increase in the value of land prices, in the characteristics, types and architectural styles of the area, changes in land use intensity, in open-space use, in circulation character, pedestrian and parking, physical changes and environmental quality, in historical space and buildings in the area, in socio-economic space of the local community, and changes in socio-cultural space of the local community. en_US
