Abstract:
This study aimed to find out to find out the English Indonesian
translation on public areas. The researcher analyzed translations words,
phrases, and sentences on public area
This research employee a descriptive method and applied single
embedded case study. It means that the researcher focused on one case
and the conclusion focused on that case. In a qualitative research, the quality
of data is more important than the quantity. In this study, the researcher will
describe English Indonesian translation procedure in public area focus on
word, phrase and sentences. The research had been conducted at Sultan
Hasanuddin International Airport in Makassar South of Sulawesi.
The researcher identifies the translation errors that were found in
Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport. In lexical errors, there are; (1)
improper diction: the choice and use of words to express meaning, (2)
redundant words: superfluous and unnecessary in the use of language, and
(3) spelling errors: spelling errors can be found as vowel trouble, apostrophe
error, and classic missing letter type.
